How to change your wallpaper in Zoom program
Knowing how
to change the background of the Zoom program is an essential skill now with
many people using videoconferencing to work from home or keep in touch with
family and friends. The scramble to find a place to host your next Zoom meeting
at work can be stressful if your options are limited to a boring home office
with bare walls or a messy bedroom. Changing the Zoom wallpaper gives regular
video conference meetings some visual flair and makes them more interesting and
fun. One effective way to remedy this is to use Zoom's default background
feature. It allows you to cover up your actual background with an image or a
video instead. Maybe you just want to hide the fact that your home office or
bedroom is a bit messy at the moment. Your co-workers will still see your face,
but this time, your face will be against a prettier or more interesting
background. In this guide, we will show you how to change wallpaper in Zoom
step by step.
The ability
to change Zoom Zoom wallpapers is one of the service's best features (and it is
copied by other video chat apps) while it is used to work from home during the
ongoing coronavirus pandemic. We'll also look at how to add a fun filter to
your video, it's easy when changing the Zoom background so it looks like you're
sitting on an iron throne. So be sure to scroll to check that too.
Step 1: Click on your profile picture, then access your Zoom settings
To set the
default background in Zoom Zoom, click on your profile picture, then you must
first access the Zoom app settings. To do this, open the Zoom desktop app and
click on the gear-shaped settings icon. This icon is located in the upper-right
corner of the app's main menu screen. It should be right below your profile
picture icon.
Step 2: In the left menu bar, click on the Virtual Background tab. Select "Background and filters" from the settings menu
Once you are
in the settings menu, where you can choose from the default wallpaper or upload
your own, select the wallpaper and filters option from the menu on the left
side of the screen. This will open a subsection of the Settings menu on the
right side of the screen. Here is where we will choose the background. You can
also add video filters in this section, but we'll go into that later in this
guide.
Step 3: Preview and choose your default background
To choose a
default wallpaper, make sure the Default backgrounds tab is selected. This way,
you can browse Zoom Zoom's limited collection of preset video and photo
wallpapers. If you want to preview one of these wallpapers, just click the
corresponding thumbnail icon, and it should immediately appear in the preview
screen towards the top of the window. It is important to note that if you want
to see how your default wallpaper will appear during a video call, you will
need to turn on the webcam while previewing these wallpapers. That way, the
preview screen will display a live feed of your face against the background,
instead of just the background itself.
You are also
not restricted to using the default Zoom Zoom software preset backgrounds. You
can add your own photos and videos by clicking on the Plus Sign icon next to
Video Filters. A drop-down menu will appear, giving you two options: Add an
image or add a video. Choosing either of them will open your computer's file
explorer so that you can select an image or video file from your computer. Once
you choose the wallpaper, just exit the settings menu. Zoom software will save
your selection automatically
It is also
worth noting that the Virtual Background feature in Zoom software has been
optimized to work better with green screen usage. You can use the feature
without a green screen, but if you have one, the quality is expected to be
better. If you plan on using a green screen, make sure to check the box next to
the phrase I have a green screen on the Background and Filters settings page to
make the most of the default wallpaper.
Note: You
can set your default wallpaper while you are in a meeting as well. To do so,
click the up arrow inside the start (or stop) the camcorder icon. In the menu
that appears, select Choose default wallpaper. This will take you to the same
background and filters menu from earlier.
More Fun: How to Add a Filter to Your Zoom Video
Virtual
backgrounds aren't the only way to impress with your Zoom Zoom meetings. You
can also decorate your backgrounds with a variety of pre-set Zoom filters.
Here's how to use it:
Step 1: Access the Background and Filters section in the Zoom Settings menu, like we did earlier.
Step 2:
Select the "Video Filters" tab. You will then be presented with a
relatively large selection of pre-made Zoom program filters, which include
various color and image filters. Clicking on the filter thumbnail will allow
you to preview this filter in the preview screen at the top of the window. Some
photo filters will not appear in the preview unless your webcam is turned on,
because they require your face to appear correctly.
Step 3: Once
you choose a filter, just exit the Settings menu. The filter will appear the
next time you join a Zoom meeting.
