Jaguar J Pace 2021 | Everything we know (design, engine, interior)

Modern electric cars have many performance advantages over their gas-powered brothers, and Jaguar is turning them all into weapons. It starts with the platform, which pushes a 90 kWh lithium-ion I-Pace battery to the ground. This gives the car an extremely low center of gravity and distributes the weight evenly at the front and rear (50:50). Without engine and gearbox loads, Jaguar was also able to drive the wheels to the outer ends of the body, which improved cornering stability.

Why We Picked a Jaguar J Pace:

Although it doesn't feature the Tesla Model X's driving range or the payload capacity of the Mazda CX-5, the jaguar j pace prides itself on overall dynamics, packaging and driving experience. The car simply disappears from the tank on the go, but remains in the center when driving through tight corners. It really has let the infotainment system down - and there's a penny price to pay for this level of good driving.

Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director, spoke for the first time about the flagship J-Pace SUV, and admitted that the upcoming XJ could be all-electric.

In an interview published on the auto pages of The Sun, the old head of design claimed it was "worth considering" to pursue the E-Pace and F-Pace with a larger, more luxurious SUV.

When asked about the next step for Jaguar, Callum confirmed it will be the new XJ, slated to be launched later this year. He claimed that the British company "is looking at the matter in a somewhat individual way".

When asked if this means it could be completely electric, Callum said: "It could be. I think it's important for Jaguar to stick to the idea that we're now an electric car company - for one day everyone's going to be, we're just getting it."

As jaguar shares its platform with XJ, this means that J-Pace EV is enabled. It's possible, Callum said. "This is my opinion. We just have to follow him."

The upcoming Jaguar J pace SUV will be one of the first electric models to be based on the all-new Jaguar Land Rover platform - sources previously indicated an electric version on the cards.

The jaguar j pace is believed to have been launched a little over two years ago and will arrive around the same time with the fifth generation Range Rover, which will also be built on the company's MLA platform. jaguar j pace is one of three new "mid-rise" Jaguar Land Rover models that rely on electric motors.

The MLA platform, which will power all JLR vehicles by 2025, will be all-aluminum and expected to be significantly lighter than the current D7 and D8 chassis.

One of the main technical features of the Jaguar j pace, which will be higher than the E-Pace and F-Pace in Jaguar's SUV series, is the rear wheels that are powered by an electric motor. As with all MLA-based hybrids, the traditional mechanical all-wheel drive is being lost.

Using an electric motor on the rear axle provides a number of benefits. Release the mechanical connection to the rear wheels, including the shaft hub and PTO unit, providing more room for the battery pack and improving space inside the cab, eliminating the need for the traditional center tunnel.

The electric shaft will also greatly improve handling and terrain performance. The speed and the precise controllable nature of the electric motor power source should improve ride on the road, especially in bad corners and surfaces, as well as provide precise control of torque applied to the rear wheels when driving off-road.

Little has emerged yet about the features offered by the MLA architecture, but it is assumed that they will change by the end of the year as a new product launch approaches.

The jaguar j pace is set to come as a plug-in hybrid as standard, with the turbocharged version of the recently announced Ingenium six-engined engine expected to be the prime mover. Whether JLR engineers believe the new MLA platform will allow an improved installation of the Ingenium four-cylinder engine remains unclear, but a powerful four-cylinder engine may be offered at the jaguar j pace for a version biased toward the premium economy.

There is no official news on the jaguar j pace the hybrid's only plug-in, but the minimum target will be 50 miles under the right conditions. As JLR explained last year in a presentation to investors, they believe that new car buyers are still skeptical of pure battery cars, so introducing a battery that allows emissions-free driving for shorter trips in the city may be the best compromise.

Jaguar Land Rover predicts that only 20% of new car sales will be pure electric cars by 2025, which is why the MLA platform's ability to be used with conventional gasoline / diesel, plugs and clean EV motors is critical to protecting the company's future. . However, the prediction of how far the market will go towards electrification is currently avoided by almost everyone in the automotive industry.

Jaguar does not usually preview new models with test cars and has not focused much on designing jaguar j pace. However, it would likely build on the distinctive appearance of the I-Pace electric vehicle, which provided a much-needed new direction for Jaguar aesthetics.

Like the recently revised XE, the interior of the jaguar j pace will feature OLED screens designed to raise the perceived quality of the cabin to compete with the leading German crossover.

The jaguar j pace is expected to be around 4.9 meters, the flat floor will help to create an impressive interior with a healthy boot volume of at least 650 liters. However, the expected low roof line for the jaguar j pace means it won't be as airy as its Range Rover siblings.

As Audi engineers previously explained with the E-tron SUV design, great emphasis should be placed on minimizing the headroom of the electric vehicle and reducing the overall resistance to increase the battery range.

Like all car manufacturers, Jaguar Land Rover will have to reduce its average fleet fuel consumption and emissions figures significantly over the next decade, as a result of increasingly stringent European Union targets by 2030.

According to the investor's proposal, the range of new mid-size models will consist of Jaguar and Range Rover models. The Range Rover is believed to be the new "Road Rover", and the other is most likely a Jaguar - most likely a pure EV replacement for the old XJ limousine, as Autocar previously revealed.
