iphone 12 vs iphone 12 pro

Why the iPhone 12 Pro weighs badly and why do we need to rethink the popular thinking that a smartphone is heavier, more premium. What is the difference between iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro?

iphone 12 vs iphone 12 pro - One Key Difference

Weight difference -iphone 12 vs iphone 12 pro

The first day I got the iPhone 12 Pro, something happened to me that I wasn't expecting. Within 24 hours of using it, I purchased an iPhone 12 and started making a comeback on the iPhone 12 Pro. Now why would you ask? Simple, weight. Although it is strange to say, the iPhone 12 Pro is too heavy at least for my daily use. It weighs 189 grams and is only 10 grams less than the iPhone 8 Plus and it weighs 25 grams more than the iPhone 12.

Compared to the design of Google Pixel 5

The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro basically share the same dimensions, sporting a 6.1-inch screen whose diagonal from my experience is the size of a phone that you can still use with one hand. I've been using the Google Pixel 5 for the past month and it's about the same size as iPhones, a pleasure to use. The rounded edges make it easy to carry and the phone weighs just 151 grams so that you can hold it in your hand for a long period of time and your hand will not get tired of carrying the iPhone 12 Pro, but this is not the case, as I found it less comfortable to hold my hand for long periods of time due to its weight So much so that I put it back for the weight of the lighter iPhone 12 that sucked, because I really wanted the features in the Pro.

IPhone 12 Pro comfort issues

So why did Apple make the iPhone 12 Pro noticeably heavier?

It's about the exact same size as the iPhone 12 but it's 25g heavier and it's not a tiny amount of weight. Now when you talk to iPhone 12 Pro users, they'd probably say well this is because of the stainless steel construction materials and this extra weight makes the phone feel more premium, and that feeling really bothers me. Do you know why because for years Apple was a tech company dedicated to making tech products nobody applauded because they made an iPad keyboard heavier like a magic keyboard and gossip about how special it feels more than the Smart Folio keyboard.

Whenever its weight becomes more synonymous with oh, it feels excellent, it should cost more! Such logic would be a tungsten wedding ring more distinctive and more costly than a gold wedding ring which we know is not correct because in fact gold while lighter is a much more expensive material than tungsten. Same thing for like nobody goes out and buys a heavier DSLR because it feels moreover, like no one else does, everyone will complain if they have to carry a file heavier than the camera and carry it with them everywhere, so why do we tolerate this logic with premium smartphones?

The extra weight shouldn't equal its relationship with devices specifically designed for you to hold in your hand for extended periods of time throughout the day. The ergonomics should come first and the phones should be lighter and the pro and 12 should have a similar weight. People should not be forced to have a heavier phone and ideally they will not choose for themselves just to have the best features and the best camera.

Now apple is not alone in this direction, you will see that almost all smartphones from the major manufacturers over time have become heavier with the increase in phone sizes, but the way Apple somehow convinced people there is a heavier device that is difficult to hold in your hand is somehow better than something Lighter, more comfortable is a fatal mistake.

The ergonomics should be important

Look for whatever device you hold in your hand, typing, or pretty much whatever position you look at the screen in, ergonomics matter and they are more important than you think. You will only notice the ergonomics when you are in front of the screen when something is not quite right like the angle of the TV is off and you lift your neck too high or if the key travel on the keyboard is bad and limits your ability to type on it effectively or in this case when it is Your phone is just too damn heavy to hold in your hand for an extended period of time.

What Apple should do

Now I hope apple finally comes to their senses and to stop forcing people who want better features and are willing to pay for them should settle for a larger and heavier form factor than their ideal form factor they could have originally chosen, as if they had begun to admit it with the iPhone 12 mini.
